Runs quietly in the Windows system tray without getting in the way of your work. Check your current usage rate instantly from the icon and its tooltip.
Glance on hover, details on click
Hover the tray icon for a summary of your Claude and Codex usage. Click to open the detail panel, where the 5-hour and weekly windows are shown as progress bars with color (green / yellow / red).
Auto-update, monitoring toggle, autostart
Pick a refresh interval (3 / 5 / 10 / 15 min, default 3 min). Turn monitoring on or off, and optionally launch automatically when you sign in to Windows.
How To Use
Four simple steps from install to keeping an eye on your usage.
Check the prerequisites
Install the Claude Code and/or Codex CLI and finish signing in (authenticating). This app reuses those credentials read-only — either one alone is enough.
Download and install
Get the installer from the download button below and run it. On first run Windows SmartScreen may show a warning (see below for how to proceed).
Run in the tray, start monitoring
Once launched it stays in the tray. Turn monitoring on and adjust the refresh interval (3 min by default) if you like.

Hover the tray icon for a summary, click for the detail panel. Review the remaining 5-hour and weekly quota at a glance.
FAQ
AI Usage Viewer is completely free. No account, subscription, or license is required — just download it and start using it right away. Note that Claude Code / Codex usage and billing follow your own contract with each company; this app never bills you separately.
To use this app, the Claude Code / Codex CLI must be installed and authenticated (signed in) with your respective subscription. The app only reuses those credentials read-only — it never signs in or subscribes on your behalf. Having just one of Claude Code or Codex is enough. Windows 11 is the only supported OS.
You install manually only the first time. After that, the app checks for new versions in the background and notifies you in-app when an update is available — no manual re-download needed.
Your Claude Code / Codex authentication has expired. Sign in again with the CLI to refresh your credentials, then let the app re-fetch your usage.
If the corresponding CLI isn't installed or has never been authenticated, that tool shows nothing. Install and sign in to the Claude Code / Codex CLI. Having just one of them is fine.
Because the app relies on unofficial endpoints, a provider-side change or a network hiccup can temporarily break retrieval. Wait a little and let it retry, or review your refresh interval. This can happen when Anthropic / OpenAI change their services.
The app isn't code-signed, so "Windows protected your PC" appears on first run. Click "More info" then "Run anyway".
Windows is hiding the icon in the overflow area. Expand the taskbar's "hidden icons" (overflow) area and pin the icon to the taskbar.
